Lemon Ginger Martini

This cocktail is a sophisticated version of the Lemon Drop shot you probably had way too many of in college! This has the perfect amount of sweetness from the Ginger Simple Syrup and just the right acidity and bold flavor from the lemon and fresh ginger. One of these babies will have you feeling great and maybe taking a stroll down memory lane.

Serves 2

5 oz Vodka- I like Titos

1 3/4 oz Ginger Simple Syrup- recipe below

Juice of 1 Lemon

2 strips lemon peel

Ginger Simple Syrup

1/2 cup cane sugar

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup sliced fresh ginger (with peel on)

In a small saucepan on medium low heat add water and sugar and stir frequently until sugar dissolved. Once dissolved add in sliced ginger and turn to a simmer. Simmer for 15 minutes then remove from heat and let Ginger steep for about 30 minutes. Strain and once cooled to room temperature place in a sealed container in the fridge. This will keep for a week.

For the cocktail add Vodka, Simple Syrup, Juice of 1 lemon and lot of ice to a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously then strain and pour into Martini glasses. Take the lemon peel and twist it with your hands until you create a spiral shape. Place into glass and enjoy!
